Stay-at-home Saturday

Are you in an area where you have been asked to “stay home, stay healthy”? Or, are you staying home more just to be safe? In any case, are you wondering what to do?

Although I haven’t had to stay home from work (problem with working in an “essential” industry), today is a day off for me, too! What I often like to do is find a card design that I like, and create a whole bunch of them in variation. That way, you have a general design you are working towards (makes design easy), but end up with cards that are a little bit different, be it for different people or different occasions.

Today, I thought I’d share some variations on the card I posted yesterday. I loved the embossing of the Tags in Bloom frame and the layout. I came up with a few different color combos and got to it. I had to write them all down so I could keep everything straight as I prepped, haha! As much as possible, I like to emboss all at once, cut all at once, stamp all at once, etc. Then, when everything is set, I can assemble.

For all of the cards, the card bases are standard A2, either side fold or top fold works. The main stamped layer is 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″. The mat is 3-3/4″ x 5″. I used an Aqua Painter to add color, picking up ink with an acrylic block from my ink pads.

Card 1:

Card base: Purple Posy

Mat: Granny Apple Green

Embossing: White shimmer

Watercolor: Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green

Tag: Ombre sponging with Highland Heather, Frame in Highland Heather, Sentiment in Gorgeous Grape

The white shimmer embossing powder looks do dreamy! I can’t wait to make a background with this!

Card 2:

Card 3:

Card 4:

Card base: Crumb Cake

Card 5:

Card base: Coastal Cabana

Mat: Gray Granite

Embossing: none (stamped in Gray Granite)

Watercolor: Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Soft Suede

Tag: Ombre sponging with Pool Party, Frame in Pool Party, Sentiment in Bermuda Bay

Ribbon: Daffodil Delight ruched ribbon

Card 6:

Card base: Whisper White

Mat: none

Embossing: none (stamped in Gray Granite)

Watercolor: Real Red, Granny Apple Green

Tag: Watercolor wash in Pool Party, Sentiment in Gray Granite

Ribbon: none

For this last card, I did a single layer card to show that a card can still look nice without all of the layers. Although, I do like the cards with the layers better. 🙂

Have I inspired you today? Once you make your cards, be sure to put them in the mail to brighten up someone’s day. We all need it! (Hopefully mine go in the mail in a few days.)

A stamper that also fell in love with paper over 20 years ago. That love affair has never really ended. Oh, and I'm happily married and work a crazy schedule.
