I wanted to create something patriotic for the holiday tomorrow, but couldn’t really find anything appropriate in my stash. Well, I could spell out “freedom” or “USA”, but thought that was just too much. I was hoping for stars and stripes!
I was playing around with the new host stamp set called Time for Tags recently. I don’t normally get hostess sets, but this one really spoke to me! Of course, I had to get the matching punch…
The balloon image has a star in it, and the greeting is almost appropriate, so here we go.
Stamp: Time for Tags
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Balmy Blue, Real Red Blends combo, Night of Navy Blends combo, Daffodil Delight Blends dark, Balmy Blue Blends light
Paper: Balmy Blue, Whisper White
Accessories: Timeless Label punch
I kept this card pretty simple. I had seen a sample in the annual catalog that uses strips of various widths as the background. Since I didn’t know how else to “build” my sky for this card (I was in a hurry), I thought I would try it out.
The widths I used, from top to bottom, are: 1/2″, 1″, 1-3/8″, 1-1/8″, 7/8″. You could make yours whatever works for you. I started with a 4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of cardstock and cut the 1-3/8″ width. That seemed like a good size for under the label. I then kept cutting strips the sizes I thought would work. When I try this again, I think I want strips with a bigger difference in widths.
I fussy cut two balloons that were stamped with Balmy Blue ink onto Balmy Blue cardstock. I wanted to keep the focus on the main image.
