May Meeting Swap

We had our group meeting this past Friday.

This was the card I made to swap with everyone there (and one long distance member, Kim. HI KIM!)

I debated between using retiring items or new items. This was actually the first card I made with the new items, and I loved it. So, that decided that question! I made it in two slightly different color verions, though, and I had to choose before making everyone else’s cards. I had my husband help me. 🙂

So, here’s a sneak peek at new DSP.

Stamp set: Sassy Salutations

Ink: Midnight Muse

Paper: Soft Sky, Whisper White, Strawberry Slush, Gingham Garden DSP (sneak peek)

Accessories: Gingham Garden washi tape (sneak peek), Bird builder punch, Itty Bitty shapes punch pack, Pearl Basic Jewels, Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die, Stampin’ dimensionals

Do you like?

There was no ribbon in the pre-order, so I had to make-do with washi tape and the Tasteful Trim die. I put a strip of the washi tape onto Whisper White cardstock, then ran it through the Big Shot. I wrapped the excess tape on the ends around to the back, rather than cutting it flush with the edge of the cardstock, just for a finished look. I made the strip longer than the focal panel, but shorter than the card base, just to be different.

I added dimension to my mini flower using my Simply Scored stylus. Put the flower on your Stampin’ Mat, then press down into the center. Just like that, your petals will flip up. It’s so cool! I put a partial Stampin’ dimensional on the back of the flower, to keep it dimensional after adding it to my card. (If you just glue it down, somehow the petals get pushed down. I think because the process of gluing it down flattens the flower, to get a good surface to stick to the rest of the card.)

Oh, and here’s the other version of the card. All I did was use a Smoky Slate card base.
