Farewell to Colors

I remember when we were excited to have old In Colors come back into our regular color collections. In particular, we got to keep Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, and Baja Breeze. These five were from the same In Color year. (Only Kiwi Kiss didn’t make it back.)

Well, at the end of this month, we are going to lose Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze again! (Although, they will live on through My Digital Studio…where nothing retires!)

We are also losing a core color that has been around for a long time: Pretty in Pink. How are we supposed to make pretty girly cards without this color???

Anyway, I made this card to use up scraps I’m pulling out from my scrap bin. WAH!

RetiringColorsCardTwitterpated

Stamp set: Petite Pairs

Ink: Riding Hood Red

Paper: Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, Pretty in Pink, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Twitterpated DSP

Accessories: Decorative Label punch, Scallop oval punch, Large oval punch, Little Leaves sizzlits, Itty Bitty Shapes pack, Owl builder punch. Large Scallop edgelits, Baja Breeze seam binding

The Riding Hood Red border is actually part of the card front (I didn’t make the card front shorter than the back of the card).

After I chose the sentiment, I realized the sentiment could be taken two ways: wishing the recipient the best, or wishing the retiring colors the best. 🙂

The sentiment panel felt too “naked”, so I added the branch of leaves behind it, and added three small flowers. I punched small circles using the Owl builder punch to put in the center of the flowers … so they look similar to the background paper.
