Okay, we’ll take a break for now from the Sweet Centers set and look at another set from the new Holiday Mini Catalog. The one I’m using on today’s card is called Delightful Decorations and coordinates with a new punch (also in the Holiday Mini) which is called Ornament. Yes, it looks like an ornament. 🙂
This stamp set and the matching punch have a lot of potential.
For today, though, I tried to make a simple card design. I also wanted to use another new product from the Holiday Mini Catalog, Shimmer Ink. The most obvious use for the Shimmer Ink is to accent centers of snowflakes, edges of tags, etc. But, i also want to show you that it’s possible to STAMP with it.
The Platinum Shimmer Ink is the most opaque and looks AWESOME on dark cardstock. So, here is the card. It may seem that there is no sentiment, but I thought the “JOY” on the ornament was enough, plus you will write to your recipient on the inside…right?
Stamp set: Delightful Decorations (Mini)
Ink: Shimmer Ink Platinum (Mini)
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White (inside), Real Red, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Ornament punch (Mini), Whisper White Organza ribbon, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Sponge daubers, Fire Square rhinestone brads
To use the Shimmer Ink on your stamp, you
- shake the bottle well
- open the bottle
- pick up Shimmer Ink from the CAP using your sponge dauber
- daub Shimmer Ink onto your stamp
You can even apply the Shimmer Ink to your stamp after inking with another color (before stamping), or you can use the Stamp-a-ma-jig after you’ve stamped once to apply the Shimmer Ink with your stamp. To apply to small areas, you may want to use a toothpick.
So, so lovely!
To clean up afterward, just use soap and water. You could also use your Stampin’ Scrub, but I would first try to wipe off as much of the ink as possible (kind of like working with craft ink in our Stampin’ Scrub).
Note the square rhinestone brad in the center of the Real Red ornament. Doesn’t that add just an extra touch? I must admit, it’s not my original idea. One of our group sent us a link to someone’s project. Did you order your rhinestone brads in July when it was part of the Deal of the Week? No? Well, don’t forget it on your next order! 🙂
Here’s the inside of the card. See the little image? I’ll talk about that tomorrow!
